Platelet Rich Plasma – The Low Down (PRP)
How it works
A small sample of blood is taken from your arm, just like a routine blood test. The blood is centrifuged, and 10 minutes later, the PRP has been separated from the whole blood and is ready for use. Once on site, the growth factors and other regenerative molecules are released leading to collagen and elastin formation as well as cellular growth and skin remodelling. This result is long lasting skin rejuvenation.
What will I feel after treatment?
The sensation varies from person to person, you could experience slight redness swelling, mild bruising and slight discomfort.
What are the benefits of PRP?
Treatment can improve texture, tone, refine wrinkles and reduce scars such as acne or stretch marks. Visible results may take 6-12 weeks to appear and they also vary between individuals.
What is the difference between PRP and Fillers?
Dermal filler is a synthetic material designed to give volume and fill up lines in a specific area. PRP is self-sourced and actively helps your skin to repair itself by improving skin complexion and restoring its natural glow.
Can PRP be combined with other treatments?
Clinical evidence has shown that combining PRP with other rejuvenation treatments such as fillers, IPL treatments and microneedling has a beneficial effect.
How many treatments will I need?
PRP is performed in a series of three sessions, 3-8 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments are recommended after 6-12 months.
