Anti-Wrinkle Injection Clinics at Renew – What ‘s Involved

12 September 2019

At Renew Skin Clinic, we are committed to helping our clients look and feel their best. With all the pressure to look good in our modern society, people are as likely to judge you for looking tired as they will for taking the decision to do something about it. We don’t believe in judging people, if someone is happy in their skin that is wonderful! If someone could use a little help to feel better in their skin, we will be there to help them – with qualified, experienced and client-centred professionals who deliver cutting edge treatments with safety and precision.

At Renew Skin Clinic, we hold regular anti-wrinkle clinics which are delivered by our two experienced aesthetic medical doctors, Dr Killian Bates and Dr Mark Heneghan. However, we know that it can be daunting to pick up the phone and make an appointment for an anti-wrinkle clinic for the first time. What’s involved? What are they going to do to me? If I attend my appointment do I have to go ahead with it? And will I even like the result?

All of these questions are perfectly normal, so this week, on our Renew Skin Clinic blog, we want to alleviate some of your concerns.

No Pressure Consultation

First of all, there’s no need to worry about making an appointment. Both Dr Bates, Dr Heneghan and the rest of our team here at Renew understand what a big decision this can be for you. So, we welcome you to make an appointment, come in and have your consultation, get all your questions answered and then you can decide if it’s right for you. We do not believe in putting any pressure on you. That’s the first thing.

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

You may be familiar with the term ‘botox’. Botox is actually a brand name of a protein called Botulinum toxin. Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin, which temporarily paralyses muscles by reducing the ability of the neurotransmitters to send the messages to the muscles. This seemingly negative effect of botulinum toxin has been studied extensively and harnessed by the medical field to deliver very useful benefits to patients in clinical settings.

There are seven types of Botox, but only two types Botox, type A and type B are used in clinical applications. Type A is used across the dermatology world to treat facial wrinkles, while there are some preparations which involve Botox type B. Generally, type B is used to treat other conditions.

Botox Type B has been shown to diffuse more widely and work more quickly than Type A. There has also been a larger incidence of complications where Botox Type B is used.

When used in tiny doses and administered by a suitably qualified and experienced medical practitioner, botulinum toxin can be used to relax lines and wrinkles on the skin which gives the face a smoother, more youthful appearance. That is how it is used in anti-wrinkle injections.

When you attend for anti-wrinkles injections here, at Renew Skin Clinic, we use only one type of Anti-Wrinkle Injection, Allergan. It is produced here in Ireland for the global market and is composed of purified Botox Type A. It is trusted by thousands of medical practitioners around the world to help their patients and clients feel comfortable in their skin.

At the Consultation

When you come for your consultation, you will have the opportunity to speak to your doctor, to have all your questions answered and for the doctor to ensure that anti-wrinkle injections are in fact the best course of treatment for you. If there is another treatment which will address your concerns more fully, then we will, of course, prescribe that treatment in place of anti-wrinkle injections.

The doctor will explore your medical history to ensure that there are no contraindications, or reasons why it is not a suitable treatment for you. When both you and your doctor are satisfied that this is the right course of treatment for you, they will begin.

The Treatment

The treatment itself is very quick. You may have just three injections in one area to begin, as it is best to start with a minimal treatment. This is always our approach at Renew Skin Clinic, we want you to look like the best version of yourself, relaxed and rested – not like someone else entirely!

The skin will be cleaned and then the anti-wrinkle solution will be injected into the skin. There is no downtime, you can go straight back to your regular activities and wait to see the effect which may take up to two weeks to fully appear.

The results of your anti-wrinkle injection should last between three to six months. After this time, if you are happy with the results you may like to attend for a follow-up consultation with your doctor.

There may be more questions that you need answers to in relation to choosing anti-wrinkle injections for yourself. Feel free to pick up the phone and talk to someone at your local Renew Skin Clinic or make an appointment for the next Anti-Wrinkle Clinic in your area.
