It seems to be human nature to wonder whether service providers use their services or products on themselves. There’s a part of us that doubt whether the person in the commercial actually uses the product or just says they do because they’re getting paid a lot of money to say so. We find ourselves wondering about this too.

But at Renew Skin Clinic, we only use the treatments and skin products that we would be proud to use on a member of our own family and on our own skin. Our founders, Sinead Gallagher and Jeanette Dunne are passionate about researching and finding the best revolutionary treatments and skin products to bring to our clients at the Renew Skin Clinics.

As nurses, we need to be sure that the products and treatments have withheld strenuous quality testing, that they deliver the results that they are supposed to and that our staff have the skills necessary to deliver the treatment or apply the skin product correctly.

This week, with that in mind, we asked two of our team members to share one of their favourite skin products available at Renew Skin Clinic.

Carol – Renew Skin Clinic, Naas

Carol is an advanced skin therapist who operates from our Naas clinic. Her chosen skin product to share with you is the Image MD Restoring Youth Repair Crème.

The Image MD range is developed exclusively for use under the supervision of medically trained staff. The active ingredients found in this line are at a high concentration which means that they have to be used in the right way to ensure safety for your skin. The good news is that these high levels of active ingredients can produce amazing results.

Carol says ‘I’m often busy and on the go so I don’t have time to do a long skincare regime. I love that by applying this advanced night cream, I’m tackling wrinkles and sun damage all in one quick step.’

This night-time retinol crème is amazing for wrinkles and for brightening the skin. It has glycolic acid to carry the retinol into the deeper layers of the skin.  Carol says, ‘I know that it’s really getting in there and working, all while I sleep!’

It also contains kojic acid which is another favourite ingredient of Carol’s for brightening sun damaged and dull skin. The addition of hyaluronic acid also helps the skin retain moisture, keeping it plump and fresh looking.

This crème is best suited to ageing skin and skin with uneven pigmentation.

Glenda – Renew Skin Clinic, Drogheda

Glenda is your first point of contact at our Drogheda clinic. She is a font of knowledge on all treatments and skin products available at Renew and is always happy to answer any questions. The product she has chosen as one of her favourites is the Image Skincare Clear Cell Salicylic Acid Gel Cleanser.

This gel cleanser is also from Image Skincare, but from their Clear Cell range which is formulated especially for acne-prone and oily skin. The objectives of the skin products in this range are to heal, clarify and restore the skin.

‘This is the best facial cleanser I have ever tried!’ says Glenda. ‘I’ve been using it for almost two years and I’ll never use anything else! I love the smell and consistency of it and a little goes a long way.’

As this cleanser is gel-based, rather than soap-based, it cleanses the skin without leaving it feeling dry or tight. Formulated with salicylic acid, it exfoliates the top layer of the skin while working to combat acne.

Glenda loves that ‘this bottle lasts a couple of months… I rely on it to keep my skin clear and ease any redness or blemishes I have. It’s a must for problematic skin’.

As you can see, both Carol and Glenda have found a cosmeceutical skin product which works extremely well for their specific skin type. So often, we put up with skin conditions that are made worse by using the wrong skin products.
